Portlands Redevelopment
This project seeks to catalyze a new urban ecosystem in Toronto’s industrial portlands. To fuel development, it strikes harmony between competing interest groups: Toronto’s film industry, the TRCA, and Waterfront Toronto. The design constitutes a radical marriage of ecological conservation with high density development, of contemporary and historic architecture, and of private interest with public amenities. To this end, six distinctive districts cater to a variety of programs and zoning while an expansive wetland manages flood waters of the Lower Don River.
